There are many, many great books out there with very useful information. Too many to all mention in this post, actually. That’s why I’ve narrowed it down to these 4 books that I think are a great starting point for any (aspiring) entrepreneur.
4 Business Books Everyone Should Read.

She Means Business by Carrie Green, the founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association, is an amazing starting point when you’re thinking about starting your own business. The main focus of the book is female entrepreneurs, which I personally think is great.
The reason I think this book is especially useful for beginners, is because it doesn’t really use difficult language or terms only seasoned business owners would understand.
What I found very unique about this particular book, is the fact that Carrie included so many real-life examples that I found extremely motivating! She tells the stories of other successful female entrepreneurs, but keeps it very relatable by telling the reader where the person came from, too. These stories really show you that ANYTHING is possible!
Within the chapters you will find “She Takes Action” passages that give you a short exercise to do. I highly recommend you to get out a notebook and start writing down your answers to the questions. Once you finish the book, you’ll have a notebook filled with your purpose, goals and ideas!

As author Richard T. Kiyosaki puts it, Rich Dad, Poor Dad is all about “What the rich teach their kids about money that the poor and middle class do not.”
Have you ever wondered how the rich always manage to stay rich? I know I have! Richard Kiyosaki spills all of the secret in this book, so that we get to learn from them! The book originally came out in 1997 but has recently been revised, so all of the tips are still very relevant today!
I really think this is a book everyone should read, entrepreneur or not. Understanding personal finance is so important, but for some reason this knowledge only seems to be for people studying the subject at university. Reading this book is a great way to educate yourself on some valuable life lessons!
This business book does use some terms I didn’t know yet, but they are all explained very clearly in a way that everyone should understand!
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits educated himself on human behaviour studies to find the best ways for us to create good, lasting habits.
What’s so different about this book compared to other ones in this “field”, is that the word “atomic” is key. James Clear found that making tiny changes can have a larger effect on our habits than making sudden, drastic changes!
Another thing that I loved about is, is the fact that the book also explains WHY it can be so hard for us to stick to good habits. It makes me feel good about myself knowing there’s a reason I couldn’t stick to certain habits in the past. It’s not just me being a quitter, which is what I used to tell myself all the time.
The changes James Clear suggest are all very doable, easy to implement strategies. As entrepreneurs, creating strong habits is ESSENTIAL to building a strong business. You’re the only one that can make your dream a reality, which means that you’ll have to show up for it every. single. day.
Note: I made the mistake of listening to this as an audiobook, which I don’t recommend. The physical edition includes a lot of graphics and illustrations that really add to the value of the book (which you miss out on when listening to the audiobook.) It is possible to look up the images if you do choose to listen to the book, but I found myself just not really doing that.
According to Brene Brown, author of Dare to Lead, this is a book for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead.
In this book, Brene Brown breaks down the negative ideas the reader might have when it comes to leadership. Leadership isn’t about being perfect and knowing all of the answers. It’s about the willingness to learn and to stay curious! When it comes to starting your own business, being able to lead is one of the most important skills to possess!
The great thing about this book is that it actually gives you actionable strategies to implement right away! If there’s anything I hate in a book that’s supposed to teach you something, it’s fluff. I want useful, to the point information, and this book completely meets that criteria!
Not all of us are born leader, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn to be one.
That includes my business book recommendations!
I hope these books will motivate you to take the plunge and finally start your own business! Even experienced entrepreneurs will gain new insights and learn different strategies from these books.
As I previously mentioned, there are many more amazing, useful books out there that I can’t wait to share with you. I share a lot more of my recommendations over at my Instagram, @ReneeHalfway, including books, podcasts, websites, you name it!
